We are a clinical geneticist and a genetic pathologist, seeing patients by telehealth anywhere in Australia.
About Us
pgt.clinic is a specialist practice focused on clinical and reproductive genetics. It is for anyone with a genetic question, at any age: a family history of cancer or heart disease, a child's development, a neurological condition, a pregnancy, difficulty conceiving, or a result that needs explaining. Prof Martin Delatycki and Tristan each see patients directly, and work together when a family's question spans both fields. Between them they cover the whole path of a genetic test, from choosing the right one to interpreting the result and carrying out what comes next.
Prof Martin Delatycki
Martin is a clinical geneticist in Melbourne who sees children and adults, with a particular interest in neurogenetics and community genetics. He trained in paediatrics at the Royal Children's Hospital and in clinical genetics at the Victorian Clinical Genetics Services, and completed a PhD on Friedreich ataxia through the Murdoch Children's Research Institute, where he is Co-Director of the Bruce Lefroy Centre for genetic health research.
He was co-lead investigator of Mackenzie's Mission, Australia's national study of reproductive carrier screening, has written more than 250 publications, and is an Honorary Professor at the University of Melbourne and Monash University. In 2023 he was appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for significant service to medicine, genetic research and education.
Dr Tristan Hardy
Tristan is qualified as both an obstetrician and gynaecologist and a genetic pathologist, so he designs, runs, reports and explains genetic tests himself. After medical school he completed a Master's in Reproductive Medicine, a PhD on new technologies for preimplantation genetic testing, specialist training in obstetrics and gynaecology, and a fellowship in genetic pathology.
He is Medical Director of Genetics for the Monash IVF Group, where he oversees its genetic laboratories and genetic counselling service, from carrier screening and NIPT to embryo testing. He was a co-investigator on Mackenzie's Mission.
Couples considering IVF with embryo testing can see Tristan whether or not they already have an IVF specialist. When their embryo testing is done in the laboratories he oversees, he is their laboratory contact and goes through the results with them.
Services
Martin sees patients by video consult anywhere in Australia, and in person in Melbourne when an examination is needed. Referrals from GP specialists and other specialists are welcome for any genetic question, in children or adults.
For IVF with embryo testing (PGT), Tristan arranges treatment through the Monash IVF network across Australia, and in person in Adelaide at Repromed for patients from overseas, or works alongside the couple's own IVF specialist.
